ETC TO SUPPLY VOICE IN CONVERGED ATM/IP NETWORK

Waukesha, WI—February 17, 2000

ETC has been selected as the sole provider of voice announcement platforms for a leading carrier’s converged network that features ATM switching and Cisco® IP switching. ETC’s Digicept® DNA Module will be included in this integrated network to provide new service offerings to the carrier’s customers.

"This marks an exciting opportunity for ETC to implement its announcers in a new switching environment," said Joe Voight, Vice President Sales. "We have worked closely with the carrier and their consultants over the last several months to develop a network announcement solution for their customers. We are looking forward to building this relationship and providing additional solutions to meet their evolving network capabilities."

Initial orders for DNA Modules have been received for $300,000. Additional orders have been earmarked for 2000, although an official agreement has not yet been disclosed.

ETC’s scalable Digicept DNA Module interfaces with a variety of traditional and non-traditional switching platforms. DNA Modules offer a flexible solution in creating virtually unlimited custom announcements that promote enhanced services and provide network information to the end user. Announcement can include changed number, TTY intercept, network status, and enhanced service instructions (call forwarding, selective call receiving, and other call management features).

Convergence brings together many traditional and newer methods of sending information over the network. For example, ATM, a type of digital data transmission, can be used alongside IP, Internet Protocol or packet transmission. Each supplies an effective and reliable method for a particular type of communication. Converged networks can offer integrated services of voice, video, data, fax and Internet over a single connection. Networks of the future rely on convergence to offer customers enhanced services, billing, and management options for the ultimate communications network.
