TTY InterceptTTY intercept refers to messages broadcast for transmission to TTY devices. Consider TTY an announcement language. Providers supply the tones for TTY messages immediately following a typical intercept message. |
For example, the message would first state, “Please note, the area code you reached 414 has been changed to 262. Please hang up and dial using area code 262.” If the caller did not hang up after the message, he would hear tones following the spoken message. A caller conversing via TTY, however, would receive the tones that generate a visual message on a TTY device. A variety of abbreviations may be used in the message, a typical occurrence in TTY communication. For example, the area code message described would read: _area code 414 changed to 262 pls redial SKSK. ETC offers a variety of standard TTY messages. TTY intercept allows users to be better informed and able to complete their calls with changed number, new area code, and out-of-service information. |
